Since its inception, Zhengzhou Kewei Refractories has adopted a key strategy of ‘R&D-driven, customised solutions’, which underpins every stage of the process—from raw material selection and formulation design to production control and application services. This strategy acts as a clear compass for the company’s R&D efforts, ensuring that all research and development is closely aligned with customer needs and market trends.

The company has established a dedicated R&D centre, bringing together experts in materials science and kiln engineering, and maintains close collaboration with numerous universities and research institutes. We conduct targeted research to address specific challenges in sectors such as steel metallurgy, cement and building materials, non-ferrous metals, chemicals, and waste incineration. As of 2026, the company holds 26 national patents, including an energy-recovery kiln and its support structure, the Meirz arch bridge assembly structure, and the kiln ring channel composite brick structure.

Full-Cycle Quality Control: Closed-Loop Management from Raw Materials to Finished Products

Kewei Refractories has achieved triple certification under the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, establishing a comprehensive quality control system that covers the entire process from raw material procurement and production to finished product testing:

Raw Material Control: Our rigorous inspection procedures guarantee that all raw materials entering the production line meet quality standards. For example, we conduct chemical composition analyses and physical property tests on key raw materials such as high-alumina bauxite and mullite.

Production Process Control: Appropriate quality control measures are implemented during the production process, such as monitoring of process parameters and testing of intermediate products. For example, key parameters such as sintering temperature and pressure are monitored in real time via an online monitoring system to ensure consistent quality across every batch of products.

Customised production: We can manufacture refractory bricks of varying strength grades tailored to customers’ furnace parameters (temperature, pressure, and medium), meeting the specific requirements of industries such as steel, cement, glass and non-ferrous metals. This enables us to cater to the individual needs of different customers, thereby enhancing the suitability of our products and their market competitiveness.

Finished Product Testing: A comprehensive testing process for finished products is carried out in our standardised refractory materials laboratory, including visual inspection, dimensional measurement and physical property testing. For instance, products undergo more than 20 performance tests, such as thermal shock resistance, load-softening temperature and high-temperature creep rate, to ensure they meet national standards and customer requirements. Simultaneously, test data is uploaded in real time to a cloud-based management system, enabling full quality traceability.

Deep Integration of Industry-Academia-Research: Building an Open Innovation Ecosystem

With expertise in the design and development of refractory products, we have established a dedicated technical research and development centre to help our clients achieve more efficient and energy-saving operations. This centre brings together specialists in materials science and kiln engineering. Over the years, we have maintained close collaborative relationships with the Luoyang Refractory Research Institute, the Beijing Iron and Steel Research Institute, and building materials design institutes in Wuhan and Tianjin, and have been awarded 18 technical patents.

Intelligent Production Management: Empowering Quality Control Upgrades with Digital Technologies

Kewei Refractories has implemented intelligent upgrades to its quality control processes using technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data:

Intelligent Batching System:Relying on the intelligent monitoring and operation platform, standardized process formulas are inputted. The weighing sensors enable automatic and accurate weighing and feeding of raw materials. The batching data is automatically archived and connected to the traceability platform. Real-time warnings are issued for abnormal ratios, eliminating errors in manual batching and stabilizing the quality of raw materials for refractory products from the source.

Online Monitoring Platform:By leveraging digital technologies, the platform collects operational data from production equipment across all stages, monitors real-time operating parameters, and enables timely adjustments to ensure stable equipment performance.

Quality Traceability System: Each batch of products is assigned a unique QR code; scanning this QR code allows users to view information such as the product name, raw material batch numbers, and production parameters, enabling end-to-end product traceability and, consequently, full lifecycle management.
